Permanent Makeup Guide

This periodic dye maintenance requirement is a good opportunity to re-evaluate color and design preferences. While the concept of permanent, without any change, seems like a perfectly good idea, think about how your taste has changed over the years. Occasionally you have probably made subtle or dramatic changes to your dress preferences, hair color and style, and if you wear current makeup, those colors have also changed. The fact that most people need a regular color update of their permanent cosmetics is the right time to work with their technician to re-evaluate their overall appearance profile and determine if changes are needed.

“Permanent composition is the implantation of pigment in the skin layer, which has a deeper level than just a current or superficial layer. “Permanent makeup, semi-permanent makeup, cosmetic tattoo and micropigmentation are all names for the same thing, which is to implement pigment in the papillary layer of the dermis,” explains Bray. “Regulations in the United States vary from state to state, and of course regulations vary from country to country,” explains Bray. The results of blush tattoos will always differ from person to person.

Then the solution is applied and you start to remove the pigment from the tattoo. This results in the pigment part being seen, touched and cleaned. The skin will eventually create scabs in the healing process, which will actually absorb more pigment and thereby help remove the pigment within a week or so. Permanent makeup removal and permanent makeup correction can sometimes require only one session, permanent eyebrow makeup while sometimes it requires more depending on your skin type, permanent makeup procedure and area to be treated. While the name suggests that permanent makeup lasts forever, the truth is different. Most procedures that patients choose are not completely permanent (which is why the name is semi-permanent), which means that patients have to opt for a reprocessing appointment after a while.

Because the sun will fade pigments much faster, you should avoid direct sunlight on any cosmetic tattoo. If you expect inevitable sun exposure, use a waterproof sunscreen with an SPF of 50 or more. Your permanent makeup artist will send you a list of pre- and post-procedure activities to avoid.

On the other hand, post-care of permanent makeup is a much simpler process. Also known as micropigmentation, permanent makeup is essentially a cosmetic tattoo technique that creates filled eyebrows, dazzling eyeliner and dyed lips that last more than a year. When our beauty editor got a permanent lining, she discovered that she only needed a little mascara every day to make her eye makeup look ready. For special events or more modern looks, just add traditional lining to cosmetic tattoos for a thicker line or cat eye movie. A permanent make-up artist can create almost any striking effect, from very thin to just the lash line (often called “wimper enhancement”), to a dramatic cat eye, to a smoky and discolored appearance. It is difficult to predict how long it will take to fade your cosmetic tattoo as it depends on factors such as genetics and sun exposure.
